Plot Synopsis by Erik: Some years after the events of Saturday Night Fever, Tony Manero (John Travolta) finds himself living and working in Manhattan. He tries to set up gigs as a professional dancer, but works in a fitness club teaching dance by day and bartending by night. His lack of success is assuaged by Jackie (Cynthia Rhodes), his doormat girlfriend. When Tony goes to see Jackie perform in a real professional show, he meets ________ (ha! Like I’m going to make this part easy for you. I didn’t learn her name until the third time I watched this. No cheating), played by Finola Hughes. So impressed by her, Tony auditions for the new show she’ll be in. He auditions, beds Ms. So-and-so and gets the part in the Broadway dance only show, “Satan’s Alley.” It’s a journey through hell, and it ends with an ascent to Heaven. The rest of the film is a series of scenes where Tony and Ms. Dancer fight, make up, and fight again; all the while Jackie waves in the background. All of these scenes are either set to Bee Gees tracks or the work of the director’s brother, Frank Stallone. Eventually, Jackie grows a backbone and Tony fights to get the lead in the show. Oh, don’t walk out until the final credits or you’ll miss out on the climatic conclusion that will leave you asking, “Whose Limo is this?” Watch for rarely seen Steve Inwood (notable for his appearance in FAME where he made Coco strip for the camera) as the Director of Satan’s Alley. His blowhard performance earned him the nickname, “Director General Zod.”
